Discussion Between UML Leader Dr. Pathak and Former British Minister on Climate Change

London: Dr. Surya Prasad Pathak, former MP and central member of the CPN-UML, who is currently visiting the UK, discussed the impact of climate change in Nepal during his visit to London.

In a meeting on Thursday with former British Minister and MP Barry Gardiner, Dr. Pathak stated that climate change has emerged as one of the world’s major problems, and its effects are also being felt in Nepal. He expressed concern that climate change is affecting various aspects of human life, including the environment, as well as social, economic, and physical areas.

He mentioned that the current government has prioritized economic reforms and climate change initiatives for the country’s prosperity. Dr. Pathak emphasized the need for global cooperation in addressing the widespread impacts of climate change.

He also shared that the government is working to further institutionalize democracy and ensure political stability in Nepal. Dr. Pathak expressed gratitude for the economic and social support provided by the UK to Nepal.

British MP Barry Gardiner spoke about the historic relationship between Nepal and the UK, stating that the UK wishes to see economic progress in Nepal. He also expressed interest in Nepal’s geopolitical situation, being located between China and India.
