London – The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) UK has decided to provide 1.5 million Nepali rupees in aid to the Nepalis affected by the floods, landslides, and inundation caused by continuous heavy rainfall in various parts of the country.
In an emergency meeting held on Monday evening, chaired by the president of the association, Hitkaji Gurung, it was decided to assist the flood victims in Nepal. The association has decided to immediately provide 1 million rupees in the first phase and gradually add the remaining 500,000 rupees later.
The meeting, conducted by the General Secretary of the association, Govinda Kharel, also formed a financial collection committee under the coordination of Vice President Suresh Pariyar.
The meeting was attended by NRNA Vice President Ram Sharan Simkhada, European Regional Deputy Coordinator Mahesh Adhikari, ICC members Chiran Sharma, Bishnu Chalise, Dilraj Gurung, as well as office-bearers and members of NRNA UK, including Diwakar Pandey, President of the Scotland State Council, and Shambhu Aryal, President of the England State Council.
Earlier, in a meeting chaired by NRNA President Dr. Badri KC on Monday, the International Council had requested national committees to actively participate in relief distribution efforts.
