London: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) distributed relief to 120 families affected by floods, inundation, and landslides in Dakshinkali Municipality of Kathmandu and Sisneri, Indrasarowar Rural Municipality of Makwanpur on Sunday. The NRNA provided food supplies, clothing, blankets, mattresses, tarpaulins, solar lights, hygiene kits, and other essential items to 50 families in Dakshinkali and 70 families in Sisneri, Indrasarowar.
The relief was distributed in coordination with local authorities in the most severely affected areas of both districts. Previously, the NRNA had announced a support package of NPR 10 million for flood, inundation, and landslide victims following continuous rainfall. This initial phase of relief was distributed to Dakshinkali Municipality and Sisneri, Indrasarowar Rural Municipality, as part of that commitment. Further relief efforts are planned for Panauti Municipality in Kavre on Monday and Tchosnekhola in Lalitpur on Wednesday. The NRNA is also coordinating with local governments to provide relief in various districts of the Terai region and has decided to contribute financially to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
The NRNA team was led by President Dr. Badri KC and included Vice Presidents Rozina Pradhan Rai and Ram Sharan Simkhada, Deputy Secretary-General Som Sapkota, Treasurer Krishna Prasad Timilsina, ICC members Hemant Kafle and Rajkumar Thapa, former General Secretary Ratan Jha, advisors Atul Koirala and former DRC Dharma Raj Giri, NRNA activist Samira KC, and other members like Swayambhu Raj Dangol, Pradeep Khanal Kshetri, Sita Khatriwada, Chief Executive Officer Rajendra Kumar Raut, and officer Kunal Mishra.
