London: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa held a meeting with representatives of the Oxford Diplomatic Society at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Tuesday, discussing a range of issues including Nepal’s political transition, education reform, regional diplomacy, public health, and climate resilience.

During the meeting, Thapa briefed the visiting delegation on Nepal’s democratic journey following the armed conflict and constitution promulgation. He highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutions, ensure inclusive governance, and deliver reform across key sectors.

The Oxford Diplomatic Society’s visit to Nepal is part of their South Asia study program, which aims to engage with policymakers and understand political developments in the region.

Thapa appreciated the delegation’s interest in Nepal’s democratic process and development priorities. “We deeply value the support and genuine curiosity of young global leaders in Nepal’s political and development trajectory,” he said. “Their visit reinforces the importance of international academic exchanges in shaping mutual understanding and future cooperation.”

Key points of discussion included reforms in the education sector, Nepal’s role in regional diplomacy, strategies for economic recovery and public health enhancement, and initiatives to build climate resilience.

The Oxford delegation expressed their admiration for Nepal’s political progress and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration between global institutions and emerging democracies.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to encourage future engagements and promote knowledge-sharing on critical development and governance issues.
