UK Minister Baroness Hayman Meets Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba

Kathmandu – H.E. Baroness Hayman, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State of the United Kingdom, paid a courtesy call during her official visit to Nepal, reinforcing the long-standing friendship between Nepal and the UK.

As part of her visit, H.E. Baroness Hayman met with Hon. Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal. The two leaders held discussions on a range of bilateral issues, including development cooperation, climate change, gender equality, and education. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the historic and cordial ties between Nepal and the United Kingdom and emphasized the need to further enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Foreign Minister Dr. Deuba expressed gratitude for the UK’s continued support to Nepal, particularly in the fields of development aid, climate action, and democratic governance. She also highlighted Nepal’s commitment to strengthening multilateral partnerships in tackling global challenges.

“I am grateful for the UK’s continued assistance to Nepal,” she remarked, adding that “Nepal and the UK share long-standing friendly relations that we deeply value and strive to expand.”

Baroness Hayman is in Nepal to attend the Sagarmatha Sambaad, an international dialogue platform focused on climate change and environmental sustainability. Her presence is expected to bring valuable perspectives to the discussions, particularly on the UK’s climate policies and global leadership in environmental action.

Officials extended their best wishes for Baroness Hayman’s pleasant stay in Nepal and expressed hope that her engagements during the Sagarmatha Sambaad will be productive and impactful.
