London: The Nepalese community from Spelthorne and neighbouring boroughs came together in heartfelt prayers and solidarity for peace in Nepal. They were joined by the former Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Med Buck.

The event, held inside a temple, provided the perfect setting for reflection and prayer. The serene and spiritual environment could not have been more peaceful for the congregation of over 60 people, who united in a collective call for harmony and progress in their homeland. Attendees prayed not only for peace but also for the wellbeing of families and communities across Nepal.

Speaking during the gathering, a young Gen Z student, Tia Sharma, gave a moving reflection on the aspirations of Nepalese youth. She highlighted the growing demand for accountability and integrity in leadership, stressing that the younger generation continues to stand against corruption and looks forward to the establishment of good governance in Nepal.

Cllr Buck praised the unity and determination of the Nepalese community, saying:
“It was an honour to stand in solidarity with our Nepalese brothers and sisters in Spelthorne and beyond. The passion of the younger generation gives hope that positive change and good governance can prevail. Communities like this remind us of the importance of coming together in support of peace and justice.”

The gathering served as a meaningful expression of both cultural identity and civic spirit, strengthening ties among local communities while keeping the vision of a peaceful Nepal alive. Special thanks were extended to Saraswati Didi, temple manager, and the organisers for providing such a welcoming and peaceful space for the congregation to come together in solidarity and prayer.
