LONDON, Nov 21: A Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) student living in the UK has been selected as a Youth Councillor.
Tiya Acharya, a 15-year-old student at The Rivers Academy in Feltham under the Hounslow Borough, has been chosen for the position.
According to the Hounslow Youth Council, her application stood out among many others received for the role. Highlighting her clarity of ideas, enthusiasm and leadership skills, the council said Acharya was deemed well-qualified to serve as a member of the Hounslow Youth Council.
Welcoming her appointment, the Council expressed confidence that Acharya’s involvement will help drive meaningful progress for local children and young people.
The role of a Youth Councillor focuses on amplifying young people’s voices within local administration, contributing to policy discussions, and helping create opportunities for leadership development.
Acharya is expected to actively contribute to community safety campaigns against violence, as well as key youth welfare initiatives.
She will also represent Hounslow Borough at the National Youth Parliament.
Originally from Baglung, Acharya has been involved in Nepal in animal rights advocacy, philanthropy and support programs for underprivileged and hardworking students.
