Dhading – July 8, 2025 – From June 24 to July 1, the peaceful village of Gairigau in Nilkantha-4, Dhading, hosted the Global Peace Makers Camp 2025, an initiative promoting international friendship, education, and development. Organized by Service for Peace with strong support from Nilkantha Municipality, local schools, and community partners in Nepal, the camp welcomed a delegation from the Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT) led by its President, Dr. Seung-Joe Yoon, along with professors, staff, and students.
Throughout the week, Korean volunteers and local youth worked together on school beautification projects, infrastructure improvements, educational workshops, and cultural exchange activities featuring language sharing and traditional performances.
High-level partnership meetings were also held with the Mayor of Nilkantha Municipality, the Principal of Nilkantha College, and other local leaders to discuss future academic exchanges, joint development projects, and peace-building initiatives between Nepal and Korea. Following the Dhading camp, the KNUT team visited Pokhara from July 2 to 6, promoting eco-tourism and social tourism while exploring the region’s scenic beauty and cultural heritage through trekking experiences.
The delegation concluded their visit and returned to Korea on July 7, 2025, carrying commitments for ongoing collaboration and lasting friendships. Reflecting on the program, Dr. Yoon expressed gratitude and optimism for the future, stating, “This camp has shown how education, culture, and service can unite people from different nations. We look forward to deepening our partnerships with Nepal in the years to come.” The Global Peace Makers Camp 2025 has set an inspiring example of how youth exchange, service, and international understanding can build the foundations of lasting peace and development.
