Abhilasha Khatiwada wins the NRNA Global Speech Contest

London – Sixteen-year-old Abhilasha Khatiwada from Myanmar has been declared winner in the global speech contest organised by the Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).

A total of 69 participants from 29 countries took part in the competition entitled “My Dream for my country”. Samira Key-si from Russia became Second while youngest participant in the Competition, nine-year-old Tia Acharya became third.

Similarly, Jasmine Saiyad (Saudi Arabia) and Suhim Thapa (Nigeria) became fourth while Dang Timsina (Sanjana) from Thailand became fifth.

There was a cash prize of NRs 10,000, NRs 60,000 and NRs 40,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner respectively. Similarly fourth and fifth winner bagged a cash prize of NRs 20,000 each. They were also awarded certificates.

In the competition among below 13-year-olds, Dibya Dhakal from Austria bagged the ‘Little Master’ title while Kunjan Bohara from Austria bagged the title ‘NRN Rising Star.’

Inaugurating the competition organised by the Asia Pacific Youth Committee of the NRNA, President of the NRNA ICC, Kumar Pant, said that some eight million Nepalese resided outside Nepal. He said one of the main objectives of the NRNA is to connect the second generation of Nepalese with Nepal. He also thanked organisers for organising such a constructive activity involving NRN youths.

Members in the Jury included Mr Bhushan Dahal, Mr Prakash Sayami, Mr Sandip Chhetri, Ms Sama Thapa and Ms Sadiksha Shrestha. Deputy Coordinator of the NRNA Asia Pacific region, Parasmani Pokhrel, coordinated with the members of the Jury.
