London – Nepal’s Kopila Valley School, based in Surkhet, has been listed among the Top 50 schools in the world under the prestigious World’s Best School Prizes for 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by T4 Education, which recognises schools making a significant impact in fostering positive social change globally. Kopila Valley School has been selected as a finalist in the Environmental Action category for its commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious education.

The school integrates environmental sustainability into its teaching model through its ‘Green School Campus’ project, providing high-quality academic and environmental education. The initiative currently benefits more than 400 underprivileged children from the Karnali region of western Nepal.

In the United Kingdom, Rivers Academy in Feltham, West London, has been shortlisted in the Top 10 schools globally in the Supporting Healthy Lives category. The school marked the achievement with a special celebration on Wednesday, honouring student leaders who contributed to the nomination.

Tiya Acharya, a Year 9 student at Rivers Academy, expressed her pride in the school’s achievement. “I’m proud to see our school ranked among the top 10 in the world. I’m grateful that my contribution as a student leader has been recognised by our teachers and school leadership,” she said.

Also from the UK, One Degree Academy, a grant-funded nursery and primary school in Enfield, has been named among the Top 10 in the Overcoming Adversity category.

The World’s Best School Prizes are awarded across five categories:

Community Collaboration

Environmental Action

Innovation

Overcoming Adversity

Supporting Healthy Lives

A total of 50 schools worldwide have been selected as finalists. Public voting has now opened for the Community Choice Award, giving communities the chance to support their school.

This year’s finalists include schools from the UK (2), UAE (3), India (4), and several other countries. The winners will be announced in October at a global event in Doha, Qatar.
