London — The Nepal Education Awards 2025 was held amidst a grand ceremony at the University of Greenwich on Tuesday (14th October), celebrating outstanding contributions to education and strengthening the educational ties between Nepal and the United Kingdom.
Executives from the University of Greenwich as well as vice-chancellors and representatives from leading Nepali universities and educational institutions attended the event.
In his welcome address, Jeetendra Ghimire, CEO of College Readers, highlighted the magazine’s 18-year journey and its commitment to promoting educational excellence in Nepal. “We take pride in recognising both individuals and institutions that have made a transformative impact in education. These awards are a celebration of dedication, leadership and innovation,” he said.
Chief of Jury and Vice Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University, Professor Dr Deepak Bahadur Shakya, shared that over 120 nominations were received this year, with winners selected based on academic excellence, innovation and leadership, community engagement, and global perspectives. A total of 62 awardees and 30 pioneering institutions were honoured for their transformative leadership in education and contribution to elevating Nepal’s educational reputation on the global stage.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, Chandra Kumar Ghimire, said the awards symbolised the enduring partnership and shared values between Nepal and the UK.
“These awards celebrate how far Nepal has transformed in recent years. Our youth are globally competitive and are advancing rapidly in sectors such as energy, IT, education, and health,” he said. He praised the University of Greenwich for initiating a new chapter of collaboration with Nepali schools and colleges, adding, “Excellence knows no boundaries. By creating and sharing knowledge, we contribute to building a fair, free, and inclusive society—one where no individual is left behind. This will further strengthen the enduring friendship between our two nations.”

Keshav Nepal, Editor of New Business Age and College Readers, who also served as the Master of Ceremonies, highlighted that the UK’s centuries-old educational tradition continues to inspire Nepal’s growing academic sector. “Nepali education is now being recognised at the global stage,” he noted.
Ms Clare Matthews, Executive Director for Marketing and Student Relations at the University of Greenwich, expressed her enthusiasm for future partnerships with Nepali schools and colleges. A Token of Love was presented to university executives and professors from Nepal in recognition of their support. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Patron of College Readers magazine.
