Born on 12 Mangsir 2059 B.S. in Saptari, Nepal, Anish Pokhrel (King ABC) has a life journey that is far from ordinary. It is a story of struggle, where pain could not defeat his dreams; instead, it made them stronger.

Anish lost his father when he was only seven years old. Losing a father’s love at such a young age was one of the greatest hardships a child could face. From that point onward, his mother dedicated her entire life to securing a better future for her son. Through hardship, poverty, and countless challenges, her sacrifices and relentless efforts became the foundation that allowed Anish to pursue his dreams. His mother remains the greatest source of strength in his life.

From an early age, Anish developed a deep passion for filmmaking and the art of storytelling. He did not have expensive cameras or a large production team. What he had was a simple Android mobile phone. Using that phone, he began creating small short films. That was where his dream of becoming a director first began to take shape.

However, while dreaming was easy, turning those dreams into reality was much more difficult. Because of the groupism and lack of opportunities within the Nepali film industry, he struggled to find producers for his projects. He knocked on many doors, but many of them remained closed.

To support himself, he also worked as a ghostwriter for various journalistic works. At the same time, he remained committed to continuously learning and improving himself. Through YouTube and various online courses, he independently learned screenplay writing, dialogue writing, and the fundamentals of filmmaking. He strongly believed that learning should never stop.

For higher education, Anish moved to the United Kingdom and began studying Computer Science, specializing in Artificial Intelligence, at the University of Greenwich. His journey to pursue higher education was made possible in large part through the support, encouragement, and assistance of his maternal aunt, Mina Adhikari. Her trust, love, and support gave Anish the opportunity to pursue his education in the United Kingdom.

Although he was far from Nepal, his love for cinema never faded.

During this journey, he met director Roshan Das. The two shared a common vision: to tell meaningful stories and take Nepali cinema to a new level.

He subsequently re-entered the Nepali film industry through the project Aafnai Swartha. In the film, Anish served as the screenplay writer and Co-Producer, while Roshan Das directed the project.

They later collaborated on projects including Bayan and Ramaune Manche. He is currently working as a Co-Producer on the much-anticipated film Pratibairam.

Anish’s dream is not simply to make films. His goal is to elevate the quality of storytelling in the Nepali film industry to an international level. Creating stories that touch the hearts of audiences, connect with society, and remain memorable for generations has become the purpose of his life.

The greatest support throughout his journey has come from his mother, who sacrificed her own dreams to protect and nurture her son’s dreams. Likewise, the invaluable support and inspiration of his maternal aunt, Mina Adhikari, played an equally important role in making his journey toward higher education in the United Kingdom possible.

The first seed of storytelling, however, was planted in his heart by his beloved grandfather, the late Devraj Dahal. It was his grandfather’s inspiration that first encouraged a young Anish to dream of becoming a storyteller.

Today, that dream is still alive.

Through Pratibairam and his current and upcoming projects, Anish Pokhrel (King ABC) continues to move forward on a journey to bring new stories, new ideas, and a new level of presentation to the Nepali film industry.

Because he believes in one simple truth:

“A person who dreams never truly loses, as long as they never stop pursuing their dream.”
