London: Spelthorne Borough Council marked its first-ever celebration of Diwali this year with a vibrant and spectacular event. The special occasion, titled “Festival of Lights,” was hosted by Mayor Cllr Med Buck on Saturday evening at Stanwell Town Hall. The celebration witnessed the enthusiastic participation of local councillors, community leaders, social workers, and representatives from various local groups.

The highlight of the evening was a series of captivating cultural performances by local artists. These performances included traditional Indian classical dance and comedy acts that entertained and enthralled the audience. The artists beautifully showcased Indian culture and heritage, creating a lively and colorful atmosphere that resonated with everyone in attendance.

During the formal part of the program, Mayor Med Buck honored four charitable organizations for their exceptional contributions to the community. These groups have played significant roles in serving and supporting the Spelthorne community, and the mayor expressed his gratitude for their impactful work.

The event aimed to foster community spirit and highlight the importance of collaboration and unity among residents. In his address, Mayor Buck emphasized how Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and inspires people to come together and move forward collectively. “Diwali is a celebration of light, and it encourages us all to unite and build a brighter future together,” he said, extending his best wishes to everyone.
