London : Spelthorne has agreed to allocate £84K from the latest phase of Household Support funding to the Spelthorne Food and Welfare Network

The Government has extended the national Household Support Fund scheme by a further £421m to help households struggling with the increase in energy bills, price of food and essentials, with Surrey County Council allocating £750,000 to district and borough councils.

The Food and Welfare Network was established by the Council in 2023 to support residents who are struggling to afford food and is made up of:

Stanwell Food Bank
Manna Food Bank
Bags of Food, Shepperton
Community Food Bank, Sunbury
The Salvation Army Food Bank, Ashford
Surplus to Supper
Voluntary Support North Surrey
Home-Start Spelthorne
Citizens Advice Runnymede and Spelthorne
Chair of Spelthorne’s Community Wellbeing and Housing Committee, Cllr Susan Doran, said: “We know this is a very difficult time for residents who are finding it hard to afford food and other essential items, so we are very pleased to be able to use this latest phase of government funding to support people via the Food and Welfare Network to ensure help goes directly to those who need it most.”

The Council will be contacting members of the Food and Welfare Network to invite them to apply for an equal share of the funding.
