Army Day of Nepal was celebrated at the Embassy of Nepal in London

London — On the occasion of the 262nd Nepali Army Day, the Embassy of Nepal hosted a reception at its premises in London this evening. The event was graced by General Sir Roly Walker, Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, H.E. Mr. Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Ambassador of Nepal to the United Kingdom, and over 150 distinguished guests. The gathering included Defense Attachés from friendly countries, government officials, military officers, media representatives, and members of the Nepali diaspora in the UK.

In his remarks, Ambassador Ghimire highlighted the rich history and enduring legacy of the Nepali Army. He emphasized its critical role in safeguarding Nepal’s sovereignty and national interests, as well as its commitment to global humanitarian service.

The Ambassador also praised the long-standing tradition of the Gurkhas serving in the British Army, which has been a strong link between Nepal and the UK for more than two centuries. He extended his appreciation to the British Government for its unwavering support to Nepal and the Nepali Army.

General Sir Roly Walker expressed his admiration for the Nepali Army’s dedication, loyalty, and professionalism. He reaffirmed the importance of the historical relationship between the British and Nepali armies and promised continued collaboration moving forward.

Military Attaché Colonel Anup Shah also spoke during the event, recalling the significant sacrifices made by the Nepali Army throughout history. He delivered a presentation on the army’s contributions to global peacekeeping, training exercises, humanitarian missions, and development efforts, while video clips showcasing the army’s activities were displayed during the reception.
