London: Hikmat Jung Karki, a member of the International Relations and Diplomacy Department of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), held a meeting in London with Amit Jogia, Director of International Relations of the UK Conservative Party and former adviser to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding and friendly relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom, as well as exploring opportunities for dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of political experiences between the two parties.

During the meeting, Karki briefed Jogia on the devastating floods that struck Nepal on August 26 and the situation that followed. He discussed the loss of lives and property, ongoing rescue and relief efforts, and the long-term impact of the disaster on affected communities. He also expressed his deep sorrow and condolences to British citizens who went missing during the floods, as well as to their families and loved ones. Karki further thanked the UK government for its support and humanitarian assistance during the difficult circumstances.

Karki also outlined the RSP’s political vision and briefed Jogia on the Nepal government’s priorities concerning economic development, good governance, foreign investment, promotion of the private sector, and job creation.

Jogia expressed a positive view of Nepal–UK relations and said that the UK Conservative Party is interested in expanding relations, dialogue, and cooperation with the RSP in the coming days.

The meeting also discussed establishing institutional, party-to-party relations between the RSP and the UK Conservative Party. Karki said he would consult with the RSP’s central leadership after returning to Nepal and take the necessary initiative on the matter.
