London: The West London Chamber of Commerce and the Nepal Britain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NBCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Embassy of Nepal in London to enhance bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
The agreement was signed by Alan Rides, Chief Executive Officer of the West London Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Renu Raj, Deputy Chair, alongside Dr. Roshan Rathi, President of the NBCCI. The milestone agreement aims to foster closer commercial engagement, expand cross-border business networks, and mutually promote trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.
The high-profile signing ceremony was attended by diplomats, prominent business leaders, and representatives from both organizations. Rather than serving as a merely symbolic pact, the framework is designed to facilitate concrete joint initiatives, including specialized business forums, high-level trade delegations, and targeted investment promotion activities.
Addressing the assembly, Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shishir Khanal, highlighted the government’s strategic focus on economic diplomacy. He reiterated Nepal’s commitment to improving its domestic investment climate and streamlining regulatory frameworks to attract foreign capital. Minister Khanal specifically identified high-growth sectors ripe for international partnership, including tourism, hydropower, agriculture, information technology, and infrastructure.
Minister Khanal underscored that international collaborations are vital to creating durable business-to-business linkages and unlocking sustainable economic growth.
Expressing strong optimism regarding the partnership, officials from both chambers stated they are confident the MoU will inject fresh energy into private-sector engagement and significantly expand bilateral trade ties. Meanwhile, the Embassy of Nepal in London released a statement noting that the agreement marks a definitive step forward in modernizing economic relations through enhanced cooperation and stronger business connectivity.
